Elliott Cole Update: Winter Duathlon 3 April 2010

A much better result than March Winter Duathlon..

6th overall in a time of 01:07:36 (8 minutes quicker than March) and the field was a lot more competitive than before with 2 of the guys that finished in front of me both being full time athletes and racing for team GB so it’s an awesome result!

A couple of niggling things which hindered me a little bit…

– someone tampered with my helmet before the start of the race, putting it on the smallest setting it would go so when I came to put it on for the bike I had to adjust the sizing which cost me a little bit of time (I’ll be keeping a closer eye on the competition next time!)

– I had massive problems with my trainers coming off the bike and had to run the second 5km treading on the back of my trainer like a sandle… I’ve now invested in some ratchet lasses which will stop that happening again!

Apart from being dry, the conditions were horrible, the wind was the worst I’ve ever raced in which made getting the hammer down on the bike really difficult and a few people actually pulled up because of it.

Next up, a 16 mile run around Kingston next weekend (11 April), not so much a race as a bit of intense training! :o)
